Fancy buying a real English witch prison? There’s a tiny house for sale in Clacton-on-Sea in Essex which used to house local witches. The 2 bedroomed semi-detached house is on sale for a snip below £280,000. Ok, the downside is you have to live in Essex but on the upside you could live in a piece of history. In 1582, Ursula Kemp was one famous witch who was imprisoned here prior to her hanging.
The house has been popular with paranormal groups (and even comes set up ready to accommodate a paranormal activity business!). Check it out on the UK real estate directory Rightmove.
The house was up for sale in February 2016 (at a much reduced price of £180,00). The woman who is selling it tells of her fear of malevolent presence in the house and of a satanic goat. So, of course, that is definitely a reason to jack the price up by 50%. The owner has also written a book about living in the house.
The owner claims that she didn’t know the history of the house when she bought it in 2004. The sign above was clearly not an indicator of any notorious past.
