I am a plant mama. Unlike my human kids, my plants are peaceful and generally trouble-fee. Being a plant mama though is an expensive habit. In addition to my gorgeous plants, I like to put them in cool little plant pots – you know – a happy home for them! Plant pots though can cost as much as the plant so I’ve taken to scouring garage sales and thrift shops for them.
Aldi Kraft Kits for Adults
Aldi Kraft kits for adults are mostly in the under £5 range. As part of the Aldi range, you get Hinkler craft kits for gold foil craft. You know a little gold foil trim can go a long way towards jazzing up a home project.
Gold Foil For Crafts
Gold foil for crafts can be expensive though. But not the Aldi kraft kits version!
For under £5, in these home craft kits contain 2 sheets of sticky sided tape, 2 sheets of gold foil paper sheets, a booklet outline several ideas for gold foil craft and a black tote bag that you can adorn with gold foil sheets to get you started.
Gold Foil Products
Gold foil products that the handy booklet suggest you can make include a DIY gold foil T Shirt and various ways to add gold foil trim top products. You can definitely DIY gold foil on fabric like the tee shirt and the black fabric bag that’s included with the Aldi craft kits for adults.
What did I chose to DIY gold foil? A plant pot for one of my little plant babies. I got this pot in a garage sale for the bargain bin price of £2. It was the right color and had lots of great texture giving it a cross between 70’s style and grandmillenial style.
Unfortunately, my plant pot lacked a bit of oomph when I put it in its designated lace primarily because the plants nearby are so pretty. And, there’s a whole lot of brown which a little sheen via gold foil craft can fix.
DIY Gold Foil
So thanks to the DIY gold foil sheets I got to upgrade my cheap plant pot. My home craft is listed for £4.99 but I still have lots of gold foil left even after my plant pot upgrade. So my little DIY gold foil trim would come in less than £5 – not bad for a cool plant pot!
Haven chosen one of the ideas in the Hinkler Craft Kits booklet, I added a gold foil trim to the top of my vase to give it a bit of sparkle! The color and the texture that I liked in the vase initially is still there but subtly enhanced. A little bit of gold foil craft goes a long way.
Step By Step Gold Foil Craft
So here is a step-by-step guide to the super easy gold foil sheets project I did.
Measure the tape sheet and gold foil paper sheets you will need.
Cut the tape sheet and gold foil paper sheets to the measurement you did.
Attach the double-sided tape sheet to the pot.
Attach the gold foil sheets to the double sided tape sheet and press down.
And that’s it! Here’s the gold foil product final result!
Gold Foil Trim Plant Pot
Here are some more pictures of my new gold foil trim plant pot. Isn’t it fab?
Now that Christmas is just around the corner, and I’ve got time on my hands, I’m thinking some DIY gold foil upcycling would make some great gold foil gift items.
