I’ve loved the colorful, witty style of New York potter and designer, Jonathan Adler, ever since he won me over with his book – Happy Chic by Jonathan Adler. Although to be fair, it was Adler’s dog Liberace’s prominent appearance in the book who convinced me that his human had both wit and style. Liberace had too much sass to belong to just any New York designer, no matter how gay and artsy.
Even though spring in New York was supposed to be all pigeons chirping and blue skies in Central Park, we had the unfortunate luck to encounter a cold and rainy April day in Manhattan. What was there to do but comfort ourselves eating and shopping our way on the Upper East Side?
We spotted the Adler store with dizzying clarity brought on by a sugar rush from a pitstop at Dylan’s Candy Bar on our way back to our hotel, The Benjamin. Even laden with packages from Bloomingdales, we know we had to stop by Adler’s store full of modern home decor accessories. The gifts and accessories, especially the luxury decorative pillows, was a bright vortex of cheer in the relentless grey of the weather and the all-black uniform of the native New Yorker.
Modern Home Decor Accessories
Although Jonathan Adler started out as a potter, his accessories now are made in Peru by other artisans.
Jonathan Adler Throw Pillows
My favourite items though were the Jonathan Adler throw pillows. So many colours, sizes, shapes and patterns.
Jonathan Adler’s collection is so varied that they make great hostess, housewarming and even children’s gifts. Who wouldn’t be happy to receive such a fun gift?
