So have you heard that Living Coral is the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2019? It’s a shade of coral that is stronger than pink but not as bright as red.
Living Coral is a color which is supposed to be embracing nature and optimism. Of course, it’s inspired by the actual coral reefs which are dying so that’s not exactly optimistic. Technicalities. You can find this hue in other parts of the world – both among the natural and manmade creations.
I’m not a fan of the Living Coral color personally but then I didn’t like Ultraviolet, Pantone’s color for 2018. It reminds me of the Crayola crayon color ‘flesh’ which got renamed peach to be more politically correct. It’s definitely a more golden hue than Millennial Pink (which I heard referred to as vaginal pink for the first time in reference to India Mahdavi’s design for Sketch London).
Colors That Go With Coral
Coral is a great accent color. And, on the plus side, Living Coral works well with strong colors like teals and navys. I do love my dark blues. Similar to what you get with the color orange, a coral color scheme can really pack a punch with just a small dose.
